Main Competition

As part of their commitment to excellence, the IOC, IPC, and IAKS are inviting submissions for their 2023 Architecture Prizes for sustainable, accessible and innovative sports and leisure facilities.

The competition brings to public attention buildings and complexes that integrate

  • sensible sustainability and public value,
  • exemplary accessibility and universal design,
  • strong functional planning and innovation,
  • exceptional architectural design.

The facilities selected by the jury will be awarded the 

IOC IPC IAKS Architecture Prize for sustainable, accessible and innovative sports and leisure facilities

The jury may award special prizes for facilities remarkable for particular design features or particular exemplary characteristics.


Students and Young Professionals Competition

In addition, the IOC, IPC, and IAKS are inviting submissions for their 2023 Architecture and Design Award for Students and Young Professionals for innovative ideas, designs and concepts for sports, leisure and recreational facilities.

The entries selected by the jury will be awarded the

IOC IPC IAKS Architecture and Design Award for Students and Young Professionals in Gold, Silver and Bronze

Award winners will receive prize money as follows:

Gold: 1,000 Euros
Silver: 500 Euros
Bronze: 300 Euros

Awards winners will additionally receive financial support to cover their travel expenses to the prize-giving ceremony.


Publicity and benefits

The prize-giving ceremony for the competition will be held at the 28th IAKS Congress in Cologne on 24th October 2023.

The prize-winners will be presented to the international public with an Awards Gala Night and a high-grade exhibition at the IAKS Congress in conjunction with FSB, the international trade fair for public space, sports and leisure facilities in Cologne from 24 to 27 October 2023. Furthermore, they will be presented in detail in "sb" - the IAKS' international magazine for sports, leisure and recreation facilities.

The IOC, IPC and IAKS will announce the winners in the course of their respective public relations activities (magazines, websites, newsletters, social media etc.) and communicate them to all relevant press across the world.

The winners have the right to use their successful participation for promotional purposes.
